Party games are hugely popular subjects, especially from very early times, notably Victorian and pre-Victorian times. Vintage party games might appear printed or inserted in early publications and they are often found at boot sales and flea markets. Mike Hill has been earning a full-time, online income since 2006, but not because someone handed it to him on a silver platter. Do as I Say, Not as I Did…

Mike created his own product right off the bat, but recommends affiliate marketing for beginners. Why? Learning affiliate marketing is a quick way for pure newbies to gain business experience. In addition, he urges folks to immediately incorporate list-building into their efforts. Hill regrets ignoring list-building himself until later, because it was only after capturing its (and e-mail marketing’s) essence that he achieved meaningful success.

To help generate recurring revenue streams, Mike recommends promoting products that can offer regular monthly income (e.g. autoresponder services, web hosting, personal development systems etc.). Differentiate yourself from other affiliate marketers by offering supplemental reports with existing products. They will add to your credibility, especially product reviews and specific information that go “outside the box”. Your transition from affiliate marketing to unique product creation – which is eventually where you want to be – will be easier.

Mike Hill reminds us to buy and test affiliate products before promoting them. Sales success is all about trust and credibility, so be fair about your evaluations even if you end up giving some products a “thumbs down”.

Blogging for the Long-Term.

To support your affiliate marketing campaigns, Hill recommends that you start a hosted blog. Apart from learning valuable skills like set-up mechanics and content generation, you can master online research tactics that lead to great search engine rankings.

Potential sources of blog material can be as diverse as public domain directories and your local coffee shop. Mike suggests that newbies avoid the BizOpp and ‘Make Money Online’ niches, and instead opt for profitable market segments where your expertise can make an immediate impression and dominate.

While blogs are a risk-free way of gaining confidence and establishing your online presence, don’t think for a moment that riches will follow immediately. Their main function is to act as a long-term branding tool, so put your personality into it! They will help you connect with like-minded people and make friends.

List-Building: Don’t Forget About Your Opt-in!

Experts often talk about the “Opt-in Bribe”, where you offer something of value like a report or e-book in exchange for a prospect’s name and valid e-mail address. However, Mike Hill wants you to take things a step further by split testing both voluntary and non-voluntary opt-ins.

Also, consider offering “dollar sales” on your Thank You page. For example, you could offer 12 expert interviews for $1. This tests the sincerity of your prospects and screens out cyber “dead weight”. You need action takers to thrive, so take note of what promotions attract them.

Contrary to many marketing heavy-hitters today, Mike questions the use of one-time offers (OTOs) on opt-ins. You have not built up the “know, like, and trust” factor yet, argues Hill, so why risk alienating new recruits at this crucial junction? Instead, put up a survey that can help mold future offers, products etc. Of course, OTOs are great with existing list subscribers, because they know you already and are familiar with your marketing style.

Domain names: Mike suggests that virtual real estate (VRE) is a growing wealth generator, with domain names moving beyond its basic website branding function. Giveaways: Increasingly popular, yet Hill gives the concept mixed reviews. To fully participate and benefit, donate and/or take original products that offer great value and enhance credibility and knowledge. It must be targeted; creating giveaway-specific products is not only acceptable – it’s encouraged. Overdelivery: Everyone talks about “overdelivering” for their customers and subscribers, but what does that really mean? The best way to make people stay with you is to demonstrate that you care about them, love helping them succeed, and are humble about your own success.

If you want to sell anything successfully on eBay you need to know the ins and outs of writing a good listing that will get people buying from you. This is not that difficult once you know how. The same principles can also be applied to website sales copy, so we are killing two birds with one stone.

Firstly we want to establish our product as unique (or as unique as possible). Now could we do this with a DVD? Hardly. However with an African Mask for example though it would be relatively easy to stand out from the crowd.

Create a story to go along with your product. I find quite often when I’m buying from eBay, if it’s from a personal seller and not from a store, and the item isn’t new, I think “why are they selling it?” Make sure you answer that question.

Write a killer headline, five times as many people read the headline as the body copy. You have to grab their attention, aviod headlines which merely create curiosity, we want the visitor to read on. Don’t talk about the features of your product in your headline, talk about it’s benefits. You want to generate excitement in the reader. If you can, try and work out a way that your product could solve a problem that your reader might have. Remember, a good headline usually answers the question “what’s in it for me?”

Describe your item in detail. Don’t leave anything out. You should aim to answer every single question possible bidders may have about your product.

Create urgency in your listing.If people get the idea that they can come back and bid a few days later the chances are they won’t come back, and you will lose them. Give them a reason to take immediate action, once they have made a bid they won’t want to lose the item. If it’s a one off, or hard to come by product make sure you emphasise that fact. Rarity and/or urgency can get people bidding like crazy.

Detail your terms and conditions. This is important, leave these out of your listings and you are asking for trouble. You’ll get disputes, returns, and misunderstandings aplenty. Don’t think that people will automatically read your payment and shipping details. However if you have put them in there, together with any special conditions if you have any, you will save yourself a lot of hassle.

Do include a strong guarantee. You can say something like “If you aren’t satisfied with your purchase you can have a full, no questions asked, refund”. This will not only reassure your visitors that your product is of good quality and worth bidding for, but will also set you apart from the majority of your competitors, who do not offer such a guarantee.

Ask for the sale. It’s common sense, but you’d be surprised how many people completely miss this one. You need to ask people to take action. Tell them to place a bid today to avoid missing out, or something similar. It’s a simple thing to do, but miss this one out and you are losing potential bidders.

Writing a killer eBay listing is not difficult in itself, it can actually be an enjoyable task, especially when you think of the rewards. Most people will just shove up a product, price it, and trust to luck. By following the steps above you will be able to distinguish yourself from other listings and really stand out. First, sign your blog up with Technorati. This is quite a simple procedure. Just upload a photo, doesn’t have to be of you — your site’s logo will do. Register your profile with your 20 or so tags relating to your blog. Make sure these are keywords you’re marketing with your blog. Then you have to place the Technorati code on your blog for a link back.

Next, you must understand that Technorati creates a landing page for each tag in their system. This page is made up of four parts:

- Flickr Photos

- Recent blog posts tagged with that keyword or phrase

- Who’s Blogging About sidebar which links to any profiles of blogs

that those same keywords or phrase in their profile

- Links from Furl for the same tag

So to take full advantage and to use this marketing technique you have to sign up with both Flickr and Furl. Your aim is to get your links in all four spots on this Technorati landing page for your tag or keyword.

When signing up for Flickr, many marketers use their site’s name for their Flickr username, just use a dash instead of a dot in your site’s url. You can use a photo of the product they’re promoting to get a link from Flickr in the top spot on the landing page. Pick your tags and description for the product.

Set up a Furl account and download the Toolbar , bookmark a few sites to get the hang of how its done.

Now You’re Really To Put Everything Together To Tag and Ping

1- You can start with the Flickr photos at top of the Technorati page.

Just post a photo or cover image into your Flickr account, making sure you tag it and use a catchy headline in your description. Link it to your landing or affiliate page url. Example:

This is just one Tag and Ping method, professional marketers have countless systems and sites working many variations on this relative new marketing technique. But the information given above should get you started on your own Tag and Ping marketing system.

Remember, blogging and RSS are the wave of the future, make sure you’re geared up to take advantage of all they have to offer. You must have at least one blog on your site. Use WordPress if you can — Blogger will do in a pinch!

AdSense publishers make money by getting clicks on the ads which display on their websites. There are many ways to build profitable AdSense websites, but too often webmasters complain that they are not getting the right kind of ads to display, or their clicks are extremely low paying. So forums and message boards are constantly filled with the same types of questions: How do I make AdSense perform better on my site?

And the answer is quite simple. It really is all about the content. AdSense is a contextual advertising service. This means it is specifically designed to show ads which it feels are related to the content it finds on your pages. And there are certain types of content on a website page which will carry more weight than others, so the AdSense system may display ads based on small portions of your page instead of the entire thing.

One of the most common problems new webmasters have is when they set up a blog to run AdSense on. They quickly find that no matter how much content they add to the site, the AdSense ads insist on running ads about blogging – even if this blog has nothing to do with blogging itself.

The reason this happens is usually caused due to something in the content of your pages. It’s often related to the title of a website page, the meta tags on that page, or the headers being used on the pages. Let’s look at this in more detail…

1. Website titles.

Each page of your website should always have a unique title that is specifically related to the content on your page. The title of a website page can be seen at the very top of your website browser when you visit the page. If your website title has the word “blog” in it, you increase the chances of AdSense thinking your site is about blogging, thus is may start showing ads all about blogging.

So instead of creating a website or web page title which says “My blog”, try changing that to something that relates to the content of your blog. If you’re writing about your weight loss success for instance, then make your website page titles say something like “my weight loss success”.

2. Meta Tags.

Too many people wrongly believe that website meta tags are no longer important. And I’ll repeat: They are wrong. Meta tags may not have as much influence on your search engine rankings as they used to, but they are still used for a variety of things. And one thing they have a heavy influence on, is the type of AdSense ads which will be displayed on your website pages.

Just by putting a few, relevant keywords into a keyword meta tag on each of your website pages, you’ll see a difference in the targeting of your AdSense ads. If you put several good, relevant keywords into a meta tag though, plus add a meta tag description for your website, you will see drastic differences in how well the ads are targeted. And often you’ll see the newly targeted ads start showing up within minutes of making these small changes.

3. Header Tags.

The header tags used within your website are those which have H1, H2, H3 and so on around them. These are called header tags, and they are there to help with layout, formatting, and organization of a website page. The words you put into these tags however, have a major influence on the types of ads which are shown in your AdSense blocks. So be sure to use these tags wisely, and keep the content in them tightly focused to the theme or topic of your website page.

So how can you obtain these results for your business?
