The more detail you can provide for your freelance applicants the better. A good project description, like a good job description, is thorough, accurate, and informative. How many pages is the project? How many words should the articles be? Does the project involve research? Do you have a sample you can provide? Do you have a web address you can include? What is the subject matter involved? Is it double-spaced or single-spaced? Will the writer retain rights to the work product or will you? Will the writer’s name be printed on the work product giving him or her credit?

To assist you in providing the proper details, you should know that, on average, a full 8.5″ x 11″ piece of paper full of single-spaced writing in 10 or 12 point font contains about 500 words. A similar double-spaced page contains about 250. The average blog post or web content article contains 300-500 words. Also, remember to ask for a resumé and three writing samples in your project proposal.

Some other tips are to consider checking your writer’s work with CopyScape. CopyScape is a website designed to check if a document has been published somewhere else already. Since the AVGN reviews games most people around the world grew up with, people can relate to them and enjoy the videos more. A problem with this is that everyone is doing it, ie. The Irate Gamer.

Zero Punctuation reviews new games so it targets another, larger audience of gamers who only like the latest things.

Humour

The AVGN derives his humour from his complete frustration at the horrible games he reviews, so there’s bound to be some level of profanity in his videos. This is a problem because this is the only thing the humour is coming from.

Zero Punctuation uses a variety of jokes so it doesn’t feel like you’re watching the same thing over and over again.

Does it actually review games?

The AVGN does talk about games but not in enough detail. He mainly only talks about the bits that frustrates only himself.

Zero Punctuation also talks about the bad things but it talks about it more as a whole rather than in the AVGN who only talks about little tid-bits of the game.

Both actually don’t ‘review’ the games since they don’t talk about the good parts of the game as well.

Conclusion

The AVGN targets an audience of retro gamers and Zero Punctuation targets gamers who like the latest games.

The AVGN reuses the same jokes over and over again and Zero Punctuation has some variety in its humour.

Both games don’t actually ‘review’ games but Zero Punctuation give more detail than the AVGN.

In conclusion I would recommend Zero Punctuation over the AVGN.

Since the readers to your web pages will scan down the left side of your content page in the last movement of their eye pattern, your subject headers and titles must be in bold and contain pertinent and vital information to the paragraph’s subject, thus allowing the web reader to finish reading your blog or article because he is now intrigued by your subject headings.

2. Your content page must have the most important and vital information contained in the first two paragraphs of your article or blog. Your reader will tend to read more of the first paragraph of your article than the first based on these eye patterns, but to increase the chances of him reading your second paragraph, make sure the content is more compelling in the second one than in the first paragraph.

3. Most of your site visitors will not read your articles or blog in a word-by-word manner like that do when reading magazine articles or newspaper articles, so make sure you are aware of this fact at all times. Otherwise, you will be writing all of your articles for no reason at all, because your site visitors will grow bored because you continue to write in the old-fashioned newspaper-style instead of in the information heavy web writing technique that is now required to keep your web page viewers glued to your site.

SCANNING BEHAVIORS OF INDIVIDUALS DIFFER GREATLY WHEN READING CONTENT FOR WEBSITES When a web viewer is actually looking for prices on DVD players, for example, he is using a wildly different scanning style than a woman looking for information regarding the best restaurant in Hawaii to visit when he she finally makes that airplane reservation next winter. The man looking for those DVD player prices will stop and and stare at the prices he finds attractive, while the woman’s eye pattern will scan the restaurant listings very quickly looking for food items that strike her flavor palette in a more visceral fashion.

Here are five promotional ideas that work. See if they can work for you in promoting your home business.

I am assuming that you might be promoting some affiliate products to your clients. But actually this would work even if you are not… even if you are promoting your own product range.

Find the one or two that feel easiest to you and get started. Don’t worry about making a few mistakes as you go. You will — we all did — it doesn’t matter.

1. WRITE YOUR OWN FAQ

I read recently that one successful online marketer always includes a FAQ in his autoresponder email series. It seems that a lot of times people have questions but are too embarrassed to ask.

Maybe they think their question is “dumb” and who wants to ask a dumb question! So what this guy does is write down all the questions he can think of about the product, and answer them. It’s an easy way to put together a short but helpful piece of promotion. Again, include your affiliate link in the ‘About the author’ panel at the end.

2. WRITE ABOUT HOW IT HELPED YOU

One great way to get people interested in the ebook or course or product that you are promoting is to write a review explaining how good it is. Explain in simple terms how it helped you.

Make sure you include your affiliate link at the bottom with a few words to entice them to click on your link. And then post it to sites like EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com.

If you’re not that great on spelling, run your article or report through a spell checker. Your computer probably has one already.

3. A-BLOGGING WE GO, AND IT’S FREE YO HO HO

Another good idea is to make a free blog at Blogger.com. Post your review or article on the blog with your affiliate link. After that, “ping” your blog at Pingomatic.com or Pingoat.com (they’re free) and the search engines will pick up your new blog site. Repeat this every 2-3 days, I’d suggest.

The great thing about blogging is… it’s very informal. Write like you talk. Forget your English teacher. No need to worry about perfect sentences or stuff like that. Just imagine your buddy is interested. Now what would you tell him? — then write it down and post it to your blog.

4. JOIN SOME FORUMS

There are plenty of internet marketing forums. Join one, or several of them. Read for a while so you get the idea of how they work. Then start posting. Either ask questions, or add a comment into a discussion.

Include your link in your forum signature (find the ‘Edit your profile’ section to insert or change your signature). Every time you post a reply or thread, your affiliate link or banner will automatically get posted, resulting in many different people clicking on your link and some of them will buy.

5. PRESS RELEASES — NOT AS SCARY AS YOU THOUGHT

Sounds a bit daunting, doesn’t it? Well, after you read a few press releases at PRweb.com, you’ll see it’s not that bad. Find one you like, and use its layout as a template for your own press releases to promote your home based business.

Most PR sites are free. So every few weeks, post a press release with a different angle. It’s exciting to see stuff you wrote turn up in unexpected places on the screen. And it can bring visitors to your site.
